What do I do as a Doula?
As a doula, I accompany women in labor to help ensure a safe and satisfying birth experience. I draw on my knowledge and experience as a doula and mother to provide emotional support, physical support and physical comfort during pregnancy, birth and postpartum. I will help you prepare for and carry out your birth preferences. I can provide reassurance and perspective to you and your partner (if present), make suggestions for labor progress, and help with relaxation, massage, positioning and other techniques for comfort. I am able to document and preserve the beauty of your birth through photographs.
What Doulas do not do..
As a Doula, I do not: perform clinical tasks, such as taking blood pressure, fetal heart checks, vaginal exams, and others. I am there to provide only physical comfort, emotional and informational support and advocacy. I will not make decisions on your family’s behalf.
Birth Doula Support includes:
- 1 -2 prenatal visits
- 24/7 email availability for support and questions throughout your pregnancy
- 24/7 on call availability surrounding the weeks of your due date
- emotional, physical and information support during your labor
- 1-2 hours of additional support after birth to help with transition, breastfeeding and comfort
- 1 postpartum home visit
Please contact me for any questions or to set up an interview! I would love to hear from you.
